Work with Sprocket Rocket AI
Build pages with Sprocket Rocket AI, and use chats, attachments, the message queue, its questions, and restore points.
The Sprocket Rocket AI chat opens beside every page in Page Builder. Say what the page is for, which sections it needs, the copy that matters, and anything that must not change. Sprocket Rocket works on the page's HubSpot draft, and every change shows on the canvas as it lands. Select Add modules in the rail to build by hand instead.
The home chat
Opening an installation lands on the home chat: a new chat with Sprocket Rocket, and no page open yet. Ask about your site, or say what you want to build, and Sprocket Rocket finds the right page or makes one:
- "Which of my pages need work?" Sprocket Rocket reads your HubSpot traffic and ranks your published pages by views, bounce rate, or the biggest drop since the period before. Select a page on the card to open it.
- "Open the pricing page." Sprocket Rocket finds it and opens it.
- "Build a landing page for our webinar." Sprocket Rocket creates the page, opens it, and starts building.
- "Move the spring sale page to landing pages." Sprocket Rocket moves a page between website pages and landing pages. The URL and content stay the same. On an open page, "make this a landing page" works too.
When it isn't clear whether a new page should be a website page or a landing page, Sprocket Rocket asks first. HubSpot limits how many of each a portal can have; when the type you asked for is full, the page is created as the other type and Sprocket Rocket tells you.
Nothing is created in HubSpot until you ask for a page. The chat moves to the page Sprocket Rocket opens and carries on there, with everything you said in the home chat. The cards and suggestions under the composer are shortcuts for these. To build the page yourself instead, select Add modules in the rail or under the empty canvas.
Reading traffic needs analytics in the portal's HubSpot connection. Without it, Sprocket Rocket shows a card to reconnect.
Build a page
Sprocket Rocket builds from the modules the portal has: Sprocket Rocket modules, your theme's modules, and the portal's own custom modules. It adds, removes, moves, and arranges them, and fills in their content. You can drag modules and edit text yourself at the same time; your edits and the AI's land on the same draft.
On a Sprocket Rocket theme, each module is a complete section, so the AI keeps it full width. "Add three cards" changes the cards inside the module. It only puts separate modules side by side when you ask for that, for example "put the form next to the hero". On custom, Marketplace, and child themes, it arranges modules from what you ask. See Sections and columns for how the grid works.
Rebuild or match a site
Paste a link into the chat and say what you want: "rebuild this page", "make the hero like this one", "use their pricing table". Sprocket Rocket reads the page you linked: screenshots, fonts, colors, button styles, and each section's layout, hover effects, and video. It then builds the page from your modules and fills in the copy. When a section needs a module you don't have, it proposes one on a module card, with the section's own code for Module Builder to work from.
When a rebuild replaces pages on an old site, Sprocket Rocket offers redirects from the old URLs to the new pages.
Behavior checks in a real browser
A screenshot can't show a hover effect or a video that starts playing. Sprocket Rocket can open the page in a real browser and hover, click, scroll, press keys, and wait, then measure what changed. It does this after placing or changing a module with tabs, an accordion, a slider, hover effects, or video, and when you say something "doesn't work". Ask about mobile and it checks at a 390px phone width. When you're matching another site, it can run the same steps on that site to compare.
It also looks at its own render of the page after it makes changes, so it can catch what it got wrong before you do.
Chats and history
Each chat belongs to one page, or to the home chat until it opens one. A page opens on a new chat unless Sprocket Rocket is working on it. Select New chat to start a fresh conversation, or open Chat history to go back to an earlier one. Opening an earlier chat also opens its page. If the page was deleted, the chat stays as a record until you select Delete chat. Deleting a chat removes its messages. Changes it already made to the page stay.
A page has one AI turn at a time, across all of its chats. If Sprocket Rocket is already working on the page in another chat, yours or a teammate's, the app opens that chat instead of starting a second turn.
Sprocket Rocket keeps working when you close the tab. Come back to the page and the chat picks up where it is.
Attach images
Select the image button in the composer to attach an image. You can upload a new image or pick one already in the portal's File Manager. Uploaded images go into the File Manager, so Sprocket Rocket can place them on the page. An image you paste into the composer is a reference only: Sprocket Rocket can see it, and copies it into the File Manager if it needs to put it on the page.
See Images and alt text for the other ways Sprocket Rocket finds images.
The message queue
You can keep typing while Sprocket Rocket works. Select Add to queue and your message waits under the composer, in order. The queue holds up to ten messages and is saved with the chat, so other tabs see it too.
Each queued message has three actions:
- Steer sends the message to Sprocket Rocket now. It keeps working and takes it into account, without starting over.
- Edit takes the message out of the queue and puts it back in the composer.
- Remove from queue deletes it.
Select Stop to stop Sprocket Rocket. Stopping also pauses the queue, so the next message doesn't start on its own. Send a new message, or select Send on a paused one, and the queue carries on in its original order.
When a module Sprocket Rocket asked for is ready, or a card you applied needs more page work, its follow-up joins the same queue. See Sprocket Rocket finishes the page.
Answer Sprocket Rocket's questions
When your answer decides the work, Sprocket Rocket asks before it starts. Questions from Sprocket Rocket opens above the composer with one to four questions, one at a time.
- The option marked Recommended is listed first. Some questions say Pick one or more.
- Press a number key to pick an option.
- Use Or type your own answer when no option fits. What you type wins over a selected option.
- Skip question moves on without answering. Back and Next move between questions.
- Send answers sends them to Sprocket Rocket as your next message.
- Answer in the chat instead closes the panel so you can reply in your own words.
Restore points
Every change Sprocket Rocket makes saves a restore point, the same as your own edits. Open Version history from the toolbar to see them: the AI's changes are marked Sprocket Rocket. Select Restore to put the page back to a version from before that change. See Version history.
Hand a request over from the docs
The documentation assistant, Ask Sprocket Rocket, answers questions about Sprocket Rocket. When your question is really a request to change your own page, its answer includes Do this with Sprocket Rocket AI. The link opens the app and asks where Sprocket Rocket should work: a page you recently worked on with Sprocket Rocket AI, or an installation, for a new page or one from its page list. Your question is typed into the Page Builder chat's composer and waits for you. It is never sent on its own.
