Marketplace themes and the app
Use a Sprocket Rocket Marketplace theme on its own or with the Sprocket Rocket app.
Sprocket Rocket Free, Core, and Stack are available in the HubSpot Marketplace. You can install and use a Marketplace theme entirely in HubSpot without a Sprocket Rocket app account.
Using the app is optional. If you plan to use it, connect before building your pages. The app installs a separate theme, so starting with it avoids moving pages and recreating theme settings later.
Core and Stack can also be purchased directly in the app. PRO is available through the app only: its full module library exceeds the Marketplace's 50-module limit per theme.
Choose where to get your theme
| Plan | HubSpot Marketplace | Sprocket Rocket app |
|---|---|---|
| Free | Get Free | Start with a Free portal |
| Core | Buy Core | Buy directly, or connect your Marketplace purchase |
| Stack | Buy Stack | Buy directly, or connect your Marketplace purchase |
| PRO | Not available | Buy directly in the app |
For a direct purchase, open your organization's billing and licenses. See Pricing for how portal licenses and AI subscriptions work.
What works with a Marketplace theme
You can bring a Marketplace theme into the app and keep using it:
- Open the connected portal in the app.
- Select Add theme and choose A theme already in HubSpot.
- Open the
@marketplacefolder, select the Sprocket Rocket theme, and select Inspect theme. - Check the Installation name, choose the Page template that new pages use, and select Adopt theme.
| Feature | Marketplace theme |
|---|---|
| License recognition | Yes. A Core or Stack purchase assigns the portal license. |
| Page Builder and AI | Yes, after you adopt the theme. See what works below. |
| Module Builder | No. HubSpot locks Marketplace files, so the app cannot write module code. |
| Updates and backups | No. Update the theme through the Marketplace instead. |
On a Marketplace theme, you can work on your existing pages in Page Builder, by hand or with Sprocket Rocket AI:
- Add, remove, move, and arrange modules in sections and columns, and edit their content, including the portal's own custom modules.
- Change page titles, meta descriptions, URLs, domains, and social sharing images.
- Have it find images, and write alt text after looking at each one.
- Have it rebuild or borrow from a page you link, and test interactive parts in a real browser.
- Have it propose redirects, A/B tests, translations, and HubDB changes on cards you confirm, where the portal's HubSpot plan includes them.
Read the Sprocket Rocket AI docs for everything it can do.
The modules that came with the Marketplace theme can't be edited, because their files are locked. To get Module Builder on a site that is already built on the Marketplace theme, add a shared asset folder beside it, build modules there, and place them with Add from folder. For a site you have not built yet, create a normal app installation and build there from the start.
Why use the app?
The app adds tools for building and managing your site:
- Installation management: install and update modules, templates, and files from one place, with separate installations for different projects.
- Backups and recovery: save installation files and restore modules, files, or an installation through the backup and rollback tools.
- Page Builder: assemble pages visually in Page Builder, or have Sprocket Rocket AI build and edit them.
- Module Builder: create and edit modules, including their code and fields, in Module Builder, or have Sprocket Rocket AI build and change modules for you. Module Builder cannot write into a Marketplace theme; see what works with a Marketplace theme.
- Sprocket Rocket AI: builds and edits in both builders from a description.
- Reusable layouts: save page arrangements and reuse them.
- More modules: use the expanded module library available to your portal's plan. App-managed installations are not subject to the Marketplace's 50-module packaging limit.
AI work uses the organization's Sprocket Rocket AI subscription and usage allowance. Recognizing a Core or Stack Marketplace purchase assigns the portal license; it does not add Sprocket Rocket AI or unlock every PRO module.
