Update a Marketplace theme
Understand how Marketplace theme updates affect pages and child themes.
Updating a Marketplace theme should not replace content entered on your pages.
This guide applies to the theme installed by the Marketplace. For the separate app-managed theme, use the app's module updates and backup and rollback tools, even if the license came from a Marketplace purchase. Child themes are neither required nor recommended for app-managed installations.
A child theme continues to inherit files from its parent. If you copied a parent file into the same relative path in the child theme, that copy overrides the parent and will not receive the parent file’s changes automatically.
Review custom files after an update and test important pages before publishing. Connecting to the app does not move existing pages or change which theme they use; see Marketplace themes and the app.
If you adopted the Marketplace theme in the app, the app does not update it. After you update it in HubSpot, open Add modules in Page Builder, select the gear next to the search field, and choose Sync from HubSpot so the palette lists the theme's current modules.
If you use a shared asset folder for Module Builder beside the Marketplace theme, keep the theme current. Folder modules depend on the theme’s base styles, and an older theme can leave them unstyled. See Module Builder with a Marketplace theme.
